About Course

Ever wanted to learn how sign Applied Behavior Analysis terminology in American Sign Language? Here’s your chance!

When I first learned about ABA, the vocabulary was difficult for me because it didn’t translate easily into ASL. This made it difficult for my interpreters as well because they couldn’t fully understand everything being said without knowing these new words themselves. However, with this video dictionary, you can easily search and find how to sign terms like “reinforcement,” “verbal behavior,” and “punishment.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this an ASL class?

Are the definitions for the terms signed in ASL?

  • At this time, the definitions are only in written English. In the future, we hope to add signed definitions and examples of each term.

I sign _____ differently than you do! Does that mean you/I am wrong?

  • Not necessarily! ASL is not a standardized language and there are quite a few regional variations! It’s completely possible that you sign something differently where you live. Many of the signs used in this video dictionary were also invented by Jacqueline Wunderlich, a Deaf Board Certified Behavior Analyst, because no current sign adequately conveyed the term with conceptual accuracy.
